Semaglutide – What you need to know! – You’ve undoubtedly seen and heard all the BUZZZZZZ around Wegovy®, Ozempic®, or maybe Rybelus® and are asking, “What’s the big deal.”

Semaglutide – The Big Deal

For starters, Wegovy® is the first new drug approved by the FDA in almost ten years! This under-the-skin injection is the first approved drug for chronic weight management in adults with general obesity or overweight since 2014. Read more about the June 2021 press release here HERE!

It also doesn’t hurt that billionaire Elon Musk tweeted about Wegovy® in response to, “Hey, @elonmusk, what’s your secret? You look awesome, fit, ripped, and healthy. Are you lifting weights? Eating healthy?” to which Elon replied, “Fasting” and…“Wegovy®.

Billionaire/philanthropist/Fanatics Inc., Michael Rubin, Chelsey Handler, and others have also succeeded with the weight loss drug. Since that day, not surprisingly, the demand for Wegovy® and Ozempic® has SOARED!

The drugs most associated with obesity and diabetes care are becoming a significant factor in the weight loss world. It has led to some controversy over a nationwide shortage of Wegovy®, Ozempic®, Ribelus®, and, now, Mounjaro®.

All in a Name

So you’re thinking…wait a minute, is this all the same drug? Essentially, yes, but not really. Although they all contain the main ingredient, Semaglutide, a GLP1 inhibitor, the dosing is different for each drug.

Ozempic® is for those with Type 2 Diabetes and is given in 1ml injections per week. Wegovy® is dosed in increments until it reaches an average dose of 2.4 ml per week for weight loss. Ribelus® is the oral form, and studies have shown it is not as effective, so we don’t offer that to our clients.

Dr. Scott’s Weight Loss Program

Our THREE-month program is about 1/3 – 1/2 the cost of the name-brand meds-only program. Our patients have been thrilled, and I think Dr. Scott will give it a thumbs up, as he has already lost 20 pounds in five weeks.

Act Quickly!

Because supply is low, I recommend making an appointment, which can be by Telemed for most people, and spending the next week clearing your house of junk food and processed food, getting your food scale handy for portion controls, and buying high-protein, low-carb food for most of your meals.

Donna’s Experience

From my personal experience, I lost about 6 pounds in 8 days, and I didn’t lack energy. My clothes fit better, and I felt better, too. All my cravings went POOF, which was a GREAT benefit.

We have a few sets of couples or friends doing the plan together, and I think that’s cool! It’s always more fun dieting together, so you can challenge each other, be accountable, and maybe do some meal prep together!
